2024 Lawndale Youth Day Parade, Lawndale Elementary School District (LESD) Spring Extravaganza And Hot Rod Car Show
When:
Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10:30 am to 1:00 pm
Route:
The new parade route used for the first time in 2023 is 1.1 miles in length and is approximately half the distance of the former parade route.
Leg 1: Manhattan Beach Blvd. west to Hawthorne Blvd.
Leg 2: Right hand turn onto Hawthorne Blvd north to Lawndale Way
Leg 3: Left hand turn onto Lawndale Way to finish line at Lawndale Civic Center Plaza
Event Starting Location:
The parade will start on Manhattan Beach Blvd. east of Prairie Avenue adjacent to Alondra County Regional Park located at 3850 W. Manhattan Beach Blvd.

Entry Lineup Location:
All registered entries, whether walking in the parade or riding with vehicle, will stage at the intersection of W. Manhattan Beach Blvd and Prairie Avenue facing the east crosswalk lining up towards Doty Avenue to the east.
Pre-event Activities:
All pre-event activities will take place in the street adjacent to the Alondra County Regional Park near the event staging area.
Alondra County Regional Park:
Alondra County Regional Park will be unavailable due to an ongoing storm water capture basin project rendering the southwest area of the park unusable for approximately two years.
Parade Staging Area Entry Location:
Contrary to year’s past, all vehicle entries, and vehicles dropping off parade participants walking in the parade, must enter the area from the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd. and W. Manhattan Beach Blvd. Vehicles registered for the parade will go straight to the staging area and enter their designated lineup stall before checking in.
Note: Please be prepared to justify your involvement in the Youth Day Parade event when arriving at the street closure at Crenshaw Blvd. and W. Manhattan Beach Blvd. so there are no issues entering the staging area.
Vehicles Dropping Off Parade Participants:
Vehicles dropping off parade participants must do so at the intersection of Doty Avenue and W. Manhattan Beach Blvd. Once vehicles have dropped off participants at the intersection of Doty Avenue and W. Manhattan Beach Blvd, said vehicles must immediately turn around and depart the area and exit via Crenshaw Blvd. and W. Manhattan Beach Blvd.
Note: Vehicles dropping off parade participants at the intersection of Doty Avenue and W. Manhattan Beach Blvd. will risk getting a citation from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for lingering around the area or not exiting the parade staging area immediately.
Once vehicles have exited the area via Crenshaw Blvd. and W. Manhattan Beach Blvd., said vehicles have the option of: 1) parking at one of the designated parking areas surrounding Alondra County Regional Park; 2) traveling to the Lawndale Civic Center to await the finish of the parade, and/or to attend the awards presentation; 3) or parking at another area along the designated parade route and viewing the parade from an area along
the parade route.
Parking Locations at Alondra County Regional Park:
1) Street parking available on Prairie Avenue south of W. Manhattan Beach Blvd.
2) Street parking as available on Prairie Avenue north of W. Manhattan Beach Blvd.
3) Street parking as available on W. Manhattan Beach Blvd. east of Prairie Avenue after the entire parade has crossed Prairie Avenue.

The parade will finish at the Lawndale Civic Center Plaza located at 14717/14700 Burin Avenue, Lawndale, CA 90260.

Pre-event Check-in:
8:30 am to 9:30 am:
Staging: All registered entries will stage at the intersection of Manhattan Beach Blvd. and Prairie Avenue and navigate to their designated lineup stall facing the east crosswalk located at the corner of Manhattan Beach Blvd and Prairie Avenue. After arriving, vehicles registered in the parade are to park and walk to the check-in table to get your parade materials. Entries without vehicles should report to the check-in table and gather event materials as soon as possible after arrival.
Pre-event activities:
8:30 am to 10:00 am:
Face Painters and Balloon Artists available for all Youth Day Parade & LESD Spring Extravaganza participants. The face painters and balloon artists will be at the Lawndale Civic Center from 10:15 to 1:00 pm.
Parade Schedule:
9:50 am:
Classic car parade begins and travels to mini-car show location on Hawthorne Blvd. adjacent to El Super grocery store located at 15202 Hawthorne Blvd.
10:00 am:
Lawndale Youth Day Parade begins and travels along designated parade route to the finish line at Lawndale Civic Center Plaza.
10:30 am: (Time is approximate)
LESD Spring Extravaganza at Lawndale Civic Center Plaza
Hot Rod Car Show on Burin Avenue.
11:30 am: (Time is approximate)
Parade finishes at the Lawndale Civic Center located at 14700/14717 Burin Avenue.
12:00 pm: (Time is approximate)
Awards presentation begins at Lawndale Civic Center Plaza.
1:00 pm: (Time is approximate)
Event Conclusion
Awards Ceremony Parking Locations at Lawndale Civic Center:
1) City Hall South Parking Lot;
2) City Hall west Parking Lot;
3) Lawndale Way (time limits lifted); and
4) Grevillea Avenue north of De Oro Lane
Awards Presentation Pickup and Drop off Locations at Lawndale Civic Center:
There are no designated pickup or drop off locations at the Lawndale Civic Center.
Individuals dropping off or picking up parade participants from the awards presentation must legally park and require those being picked up to walk to the awards presentation vehicle picking up parade participants.
